Is your deck looking drained and dull? Give it a refreshing boost with these easy updates.
Maurice Meagher's insight:
Is your Halifax deck in need of some upgrading?
It may not require a total deck teardown, and replacement. Here are some interesting ways that you can upgrade your existing deck, or outdoor space.
Clean and seal:
The right cleaning, might bring new life to your deck.
Everybody could use more storage, look at the possibility of adding storage benches for things that would normally end up in your shed, or garage.
Interested in creating a shaded area? I think about adding an awning, or a pergola to your existing deck. An awning can be a nice way to create temporary shade. A pergola, is more of a fixed structure, it can create shade, and allow a place to grow vines, and plants.
Update your railing :
Maybe the deck structure, and decking are in good shape, but your railing is in need of an update. There are lots of wooden, composite, aluminum, glass, and other materials available for deck railings.
Add a Planter Garden:
Like to garden, and grow things? Add a deck planter, or garden box to grow vegetables, herbs, or flowers.
Maintain your view:
Maybe your deck is in great shape, but your railing is obstructing a nice nature view, possibly trees, a lake, or the ocean. Clear glass railings can be a nice way to maintain deck safety, but still take advantage of the view.
Add a Garden Door:
Another way to transform the way you use your deck, and outdoor space is by adding a patio, or garden door. This can allow more natural light into your home, and allow for an easier transition from inside to out.
Add Deck Lighting and Speakers:
If you wouldn't joy entertaining, consider the possibility of adding deck lighting, or outdoor speakers. Deck lighting can create an ambience, that allows you to entertain in the evening. Make sure that your outdoor speakers, are manufactured to withstand the elements.
